Storytelling doesn't need to be complicated. Aim for 3 minutes max. Don't read out from the bible or sheet, but tell the main points from memory. Pause often and speak slowly. Bible stories are theologically and historically complex, Jesus didn't end his parables with a moral of the story, and neither should you. You will be amazed at how engaged children will become when using these simple story telling techniques.
